This is the 33rd meeting between Rowan University and Kean University. The Profs lead the series, 28-4 and have won nine straight games. Last year at home, Rowan won 32-19 over Kean. The Cougars' last victory against Rowan was in 1994, 19-16 in Union.

At home, Rowan defeated Kean, 32-19. Quarterback Mike Orihel totaled 186 yards passing and three touchdowns. He made 22 completions in 31 attempts and also scored with a one yard run. Phil Silva led the receivers with five catches for 42 yards and one TD catch of seven yards. The Profs scored on their first four drives and led 25-0 after the first quarter. In the second, Kean's Jairus Kendle had a 23-yard fumble return for a touchdown. The Profs were up 25-7 at the half. The Cougars had a 44-yard TD pass from Mike Dugan to Jarred Crowley in the fourth. Pat Thompson scored Rowan's final touchdown with a 21-yard reception from Jabrill Joseph. Dugan threw a five yard TD pass to Edwin Page.

Kean was shutout by host Salisbury, 44-0. The Sea Gulls are undefeated with a 7-0 record and are ranked ninth in the nation. Jasonus Tillery led the Cougar receivers with four catches for 67 yards. Quarterback A.J. Roque made eight completions in 24 attempts for 96 yards. The Salisbury defense held Kean to 11 yards rushing. Linebacker Steve Skakum led the Cougars' defense with 11 tackles. Ryan Staton and Dan D'Anvanzo each recorded an interception while Mike Watkins recovered a fumble.

Roque earned the starting position at quarterback in his rookie season. He is averaging 219.6 yards passing per game. His top receiver Tillery (97.1 ypg) is the team's scoring leader with 30 points. Tolu Adeyemi and Jarred Crowley are contributing with 19.6 and 12.5 yards per catch respectively.

Skakum is second in the NJAC with 7.0 tackles per game and 1.29 tackles for a loss.

Jon Robinson has kicked eight extra points (10 attempts) and five field goals (seven attempts). His longest field goal is 37 yards. Roque also handles the punting duties, he has four punts blocked this season. George Williams is averaging 19.5 yards on kick returns.

Mike Orihel continues to lead the conference in pass efficiency (146.2) but dropped to second in passing (308.8) and total offense (307.8). Phil Silva is third in the NJAC and averaging 5.0 receptions per game. In the last game, Tyree Jackson had two TD catches his first scores of the season. Wide receiver Sakeen Wright is first on the team in scoring with five touchdowns for 30 points. He is averaging 13.6 yards per catch. Pat Thompson is third in the conference with 95.7 yards rushing per game. In the conference team stats, Rowan is second in scoring offense (29.8), pass offense (287.3), total offense (403.8) and pass efficiency (141.0). The Profs are also third in rushing (116.5).

Mike Seidenberg has been a major factor on the defense since he was switched from tight end to linebacker. He is tied for second in tackles (38) and has recorded one sack, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery. The tackle leader Mike McClain also leads the team with three fumble recoveries for first in the conference. The sack leader is Brian Bond with six for a loss of 33 yards. His average of 0.92 sacks per game is tied for first in the NJAC. Linebacker Randy Tosh has added three sacks (-23), one interception and one fumble recovery.

Shaddow has totaled 25 points which is second. He continues to be perfect with 19 extra points (19 attempts) and two field goals (two attempts). Shaddow has a streak of 26 straight PATs (seven at the end of last season) and is two away from tying the school record by Nick Frade (2001). Andrew Smith has taken over the punting duties (33.2 avg.) the last two games.

The Cougars gave up 456 yards rushing to Salisbury last week. Kean is giving up an average of 141 yards per game against the other six opponents they've played. They've also given up and 220.7 yards passing per game.

In the NJAC, Kean is last in scoring offense, scoring defense, rushing offense and rushing defense. The Cougars have given up 41 total sacks, the most in the NJAC. The Profs are second in scoring offense, passing offense, and total offense in the league. Rowan is third in sacks allowed with 10.

As Phil Silva said, "Every NJAC game is a championship game." The level of competition to-date for each team is heavily skewed towards the Profs. Rowan should take care of business early and often and hopefully be able to pull starters in the second-half. See you in Union.
