The Profs are 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). The Cougars fall to 1-7 on the season and 1-3 in the conference. This was the 32nd meeting between Rowan and Kean. The Profs lead the series, 28-4 and have won nine straight games.

The Profs' defense was led by Domenic Tomeo with 10 tackles. Linebacker Chuck Ellis followed with eight tackles, two sacks and one fumble recovery.

Cougars to Meet Injured and Angry Profs in the Boro

This is the 32nd meeting between Rowan University and Kean University. The Profs lead the series, 27-4 and have won eight straight games. Last year, Rowan defeated Kean, 41-10 on the road. Kean's last victory against Rowan was in 1994, 19-16 in Union.

On the road, Rowan won 41-10 over Kean. Running back Creg Bethea scored three touchdowns with runs of six, 10 and 25 yards. He carried the ball 10 times for 97 yards. Quarterback Tony Racioppi passed for 275 yards with 25 completions in 41 attempts and one TD (four yards). He also scored with a one yard run. Nick Frade kicked two field goals, 35 and 33 yards. The Profs'defense held the Cougars to 39 yards rushing. MikeMcClain compiled eight tackles and Kelvin Bellamy recorded two interceptions. Rowan scored 31 unanswered points before Kean had a field goal in the third quarter.

This is Charlie Cocuzza's first season as head coach at Kean University. It is his first collegiate head job after 27 years as an assistant coach at Montclair State. As offensive coordinator, the Red Hawks compiled a 191-82-6 record, 10 NJAC Championships,
nine postseason berths and seven NCAA p layoff appearances.

During his tenure at MSU, Cocuzza coached eight of the Red Hawks' top 10 leaders in passing yards. The offense has averaged more than 300 yards per game and have consistently been ranked at or near the top of the conference.

In the spring of 2000, he served as the offensive coordinator of the New Jersey Red Dogs of the Arena Football League. A former teacher in the Cresskill School District, Cocuzza earned his bachelors degree from Upsala College and a masters from Seton
Hall University.

Kean's quarterback duties have been handled by Mike Dugan and Chris Ebbeson. Ebbeson has the only TD passing. Tolu Adeyemi is the leading receiver with 206 yards and 21 receptions (9.8 avg.). Derrick Valentine is averaging 9.6 yards per reception. Running back Chandler Brown has rushed for 593 yards with 135 attempts and five TDs. His 118.6 yards per game is first in the conference statistics. In the backfield, Brown is joined by fullback Frank Lamotta.

Linebacker Nolan James leads the Cougars'defense. James is second in the NJAC with 11.6 tackles per game and is first in tackles for a loss with 15. In the NCAAstats, he is tied for 25th in tackles and is 21st in tackles for a loss per game. Defensive back Dan D'Avanzo
and linebacker Steve Skakum each have two interceptions. End Konrad Roslonek has recovered three fumbles and is tied for first in the NJAC. End Ricky Jones has three forced fumbles (0.43) and is tied for 13th in the national statistics and tied for first in the conference.

Ebbeson has kicked two extra points in two attempts and has missed one field goal. Kicker Todd Galganske has made four PATs (four attempts). Pat Gorbatuk is averaging 37.4 yards per punt. Valentine is the kicker returner with 13 for 264 yards (20.3). He also has taken 15 punts returns for 126 yards (8.4). Adeyemi is averaging 16.5 yards on punt returns and 19.7 on kickoffs.

In the NCAA statistics, Kelvin Bellamy is ranked 40th in punt return average (12.8). Tomeo's 11.7 tackles average ranks him 22nd in the country. In forced fumbles per game, Brian Bond is tied for 13th with a 0.43 average. In the team stats, the Profs are 32nd in scoring defense (15.0).

Pat Thompson needs 251 yards to reach the 1,000 yard mark. He has totaled 749 yards with 124 attempts. In three games, Thompson rushed for more than 100 yards this season. He recorded a career high of 191 yards against The College of New Jersey with 18 carries. His 107.0 yards per game ranks him third in the conference. Thompson has 30 points with five touchdowns rushing.

Jabrill Joseph started at quarterback against Southern Connecticut and left the game with a shoulder injury. Mike Seidenberg came in and directed the offense. He had 52 yards passing with seven completions in 23 attempts. Seidenberg has been in the lineup at tight end. His first two seasons he was the Profs'backup quarterback. He should start against Kean as Orihel's status is day-by-day. Orihel is the conference leader in passing yards per game (215.5) and total offense (220.0). Rowan has six receivers with 10 or more catches. Endre Racz is third in the conference with 3.43 receptions and 56.7 yards per game. Racz is averaging 16.5 yards per reception.

In the conference team stats, the Profs are first in yards per game in pass offense (198.9), rushing offense (189.9) and total offense (388.7). Rowan is also second in scoring offense (24.4).

Tomeo is the conference leader in tackles with an 11.7 average. In seven games, he has compiled 82 tackles (34-48), seven for a loss and recovered one fumble. Linebacker Mike McClain has recorded 13 tackles for a loss (-36) and four sacks (-24). Cornerback Kelvin Bellamy leads the team with three interceptions. The Profs'defense is third in the NJAC in scoring defense (15.0) and rushing defense (121.1).

Kean (1-6) has only scored 48 total points in seven games vs. their opponents 162 points. They've only beaten William Patterson (1-7). The Cougars are fifth out of six teams in the NJAC in total offense with 202.9 yards per game. The Profs have 23 total TD's vs. 6 for Kean and Rowan has faced tougher competition. The Cougars are last in the NJAC in passing offense with 106.6 ypg and fifth in rushing with 96.3 ypg. Kean has played both Cortland and Montclair tough this year losing by a total of 12 in those two games.

Look for the Profs to take care of business with a balanced attack from Seidenberg at QB. They will get their requisite 400+ yards of offense, while keeping Kean's primary offensive weapon RB Chandler Brown in check (593 yards / 5 TD's). This is the first "bad" team that Rowan will play this year, and since the Profs have fallen in the polls this week, I don't see any let down. Its also homecoming. Profs take this one 35-7.
