Opening day for the Profs didn't go quite as expected. It didn't start with the flash of a high octane offense, but with the crunch of the defensive line. The Rowan defenders were led by Sr. Defensive End Gerrit Tosh, who had eight tackes and three sacks. Combined with a bend but not break secondary, the Profs held Millerville to 3 points. Millerville had 428 yards in total offense, but were unable to enter the red zone for many scoring opportunities, except for an early 1st quarter field goal. The Marauders were also hampered by four turnovers.

DII Millersville was better prepared this year after getting torched last year by the Profs 51-19. The Marauders had 17 returning starters and spring practice to ready themselves for pre-season All-American Tony Racioppi and a fast break spread offense. The Prof offense had 410 yards of total offense, but experienced timing miscues, dropped passes and turnovers. Rowan managed a lone touchdown pass to WR Phil Silva, going up 7-3 at halftime. The Prof padded their lead in the 4th quarter with a field goal at 6:12 by Nick Frade, and a two yard TD run by Creg Bethea at 5:14.
